SUPER DEAD DRUMS VOL 4 BUNDLE
This sample pack is the SUPER DEAD DRUMS VOL 4 BUNDLE. It is the SDD4 main pack and the expansion pack bundled together at the Nice Price. The tones in this volume are deeper and warmer than the first three volumes, have a slightly longer decay, and dare I say, are a bit more hi-fi. There are also twice as many tempo options than the other packs. I kind of went crazy on this one. The snare is an older Ludwig hammered bronze 6.5×14, the bass drum is a new Gretsch Broadkaster 3-ply 14×22, and the toms are 1950s Gretsch Broadkasters 3-ply 9×13 and 16×16.
For the expansion pack there are 3 different snare options: a 1980s Ludwig Black Beauty 5×14 tuned high/tight with a quick decay, a 1980s Ludwig Black Beauty 6.5×14 tuned low/gooshy/dead, and a 1960s Gretsch round badge very muffled and dead. This is the same drum I used on SDD vol 1 and 2, but for this pack there is no cloth covering the drum head so there’s a snappier transient with more stick attack. I also shortened up the toms compared to the main pack and recorded some alternate tom one shots and fills so there’s a shorter option. Contrastingly, there are also some longer kick one shots as an option from the shorter, punchier kicks in the main pack. Oh yeah, and there’s also a ride option in this expansion pack - an old A Zildjian - which I want to say is from the 50s. I used it on the Bob Dylan biopic. It sounds awesome. It was super fun recording all of these snare options, and I hope it serves as a nice addendum to the main pack!
So live. So dead. So have fun making music with these samples!
